How to turn light on an electric bike

So you’ve got your brand new eBike. You’ve pretty much got the hang of it. Now, you wanna do some night riding. Oh snap, the question pops into your head: “how do I turn on the lights on my electric bike?”

It should go without saying that you should also ride at night or in low visibility with your headlights on, and taillights (most are reflective though) too. It’s important for your safety and that of other road users. In some places, it’s even against the law to ride at night with no lights. 

However, I’ve assembled the most common ways to turn on the lights on an electric bike as well as how to turn lights on three popular ebikes: jetson bolt pro, lectric xp, and radpower radrunner ebikes. Here they are:

How to turn light on electric bike in general

For most of the manufacturers I’ve researched online, there’s either:

1. Light button: Press this button to turn lights on or off
2. Plus (+) button: Press and hold this button for about 3 seconds to turn lights on or off.
3. Plus (+) button and Mode: Press and hold plus (+) button and mode button simultaneously for about 3 seconds to turn lights on or off.
4. Up (↑) button and Mode: Press and hold up (↑) button and mode button simultaneously to turn lights on or off

How to turn on light on jetson bike

To turn on light on jetson bike, for example, Jetson Bolt Pro, you will need to:

1. Turn the jetson bike on.
2. Hold down the Cruise control/head light button for 3 seconds
3. The head lights will turn on
4. To turn off the lights, hold the cruise control/head light button for 3 seconds again.

Note: the cruise control/head light button on a jetson bolt pro is on the right side of the handlebar just below the battery indicator.

How to turn lights on lectric xp bike

The lectric xp is a beautiful compact electric bike. It comes with fully integrated front and rear lights. To turn lights on on a lectric xp bike;

1. Hold the plus (+) button on the display control pad until lights turn on.
2. Repeat the process to turn off lights

Check out the video to see what the process looks like. The bike in the video isn’t a lectric tho, but that’s how you’d turn on the light on yours.

How to turn on light on radpower bike

Of all these bikes, the radpower electric bike is the easiest to turn on the lights. This is because it has a light button on the display panel that looks like the light indicator in a car. However, you might not know this if you’ve never driven a car.

To turn on the lights (front and rear) on a radrunner radpower electric bike,

1. Turn the key on, which is attached to the battery. It’s located under the seat
2. After turning the key on, turn the power button on the left side of the handlebar.
3. Then, press the light button to switch on front and tail lights.
4. An indicator will also show you if they are on from the display on the handlebar.
